This randomized clinical trial offers home-based arm telerehabilitation therapy to people who have arm weakness due to a stroke that occurred in the last 3–5 months.

Participants will be randomly assigned to one of two groups:

  1. Usual care plus additional arm movement therapy through a home-based telerehabilitation system, or
  2. Usual care alone.
Participants in the usual care group will have the opportunity to receive the additional home-based therapy after the study ends.

Eligible participants must:

  • Be 18–80 years old at the time of randomization
  • Be 3–5 months post-stroke
  • Have arm or hand weakness without muscle paralysis
  • Be able to complete 36 remote 70-minute therapy sessions over 6 weeks

The total study commitment is approximately 8–10 months. Participants who complete the study will receive $150 compensation, and transportation may also be provided if necessary.

The purpose of this study is to develop new methods to provide higher doses of rehabilitation after stroke, increase access to high-quality rehab, and evaluate how virtual telerehabilitation can improve movement recovery after stroke.
